4 and 5 Year Olds

In our four- and five-year old program, children continue to gain mastery of social play moving from parallel to cooperative play. This provides the groundwork for conflict resolution giving way to enhanced oral language skills. It is this age group where we hone the fine motor skills for the beginning stages of writing. A multitude of cognitive skills flourish at this age, including activities that promote problem solving, counting with one-to-one correspondence and the concept that letters have sounds and sounds make words. This curriculum is based on the California pre-kindergarten guidelines which enables your child’s teacher to provide an assessment of the child’s kindergarten readiness at the conclusion of the school year.
